Shodoshima floats in the Seto Inland Sea, and access is mainly by ferry or passenger boat.
You can reach the island by ferry from Takamatsu, Okayama, Himeji, and Kobe.
The main routes to Shodoshima are ferries from Okayama (Shin-Okayama Port) and Takamatsu Port on the Honshu side. It lies in the same Setouchi area as Naoshima, Teshima, and Inujima, known as art-festival islands, making it a great base for island-hopping trips.
Shodoshima has four main ports: Tonosho, Ikeda, Sakate, and Fukuda. NOTEL can be reached by car from any of them. The nearest ports are Tonosho or Ikeda, about 15–20 minutes by car; bus access is also convenient.
